What happens to the document

After translation, the length of lines, headings, tables and captions changes. The DTP task is to fit the new text into the existing layout and bring the document back to a consistent visual state.

I work with editable source files as well as PDFs when the original layout needs to be restored or partially reconstructed.

Typical tasks

placing translated text into the existing layout;
adjusting text without breaking the document hierarchy;
working with tables, graphics, captions and multi-page documents;
checking pages and the final PDF before delivery.

Tools

Depending on the source, I use InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, CorelDRAW and other tools required to preserve the document structure.
